Podere Mello is located just a few kilometres from Gaiole in Chianti, in the heart of the world renowned region of good cuisine and top quality wine. The property, originally a fortified monastery, is situated on top of a hill and, being a former outlook post, has an incredible panorama that sweeping from the top of Mount Amiata to Siena and on to the distant Apuan Alps. Podere Mello is an old settlement composed of 3 buildings built entirely in stone: the main house, the annex and the deconsecrated church of San Lorenzo a Mello, built in 1100 AD and originally the seat of the village fete, in which are to be found two paleochristian sculptures. The large park invites you to take long walks in close contact with nature while the splendid outside verandah with built in barbecue is the ideal place for pleasant “al fresco” dining. The hill position guarantees ideal temperatures for enjoying relaxing days and the geographic position makes Podere Mello an excellent departure point for daily trips to the splendid little towns of the Chianti region, such as Castellina, Radda and Greve or to the historical art cities such as Florence and Siena.

PARK: The whole park, composed of vineyard, olive grove and orchard, has an area of 28.000 sq mt. The garden in front of the house is about 10.000 sq mt and consists of lawn and old trees. A shady panoramic belvedere above the pool area is the ideal spot for delicious and romantic early morning breakfasts..

SWIMMING POOL: The pool area, about 20 metres from the house, is reached through the garden and is equipped with sun umbrella, deckchair, chairs and table. The pool measures 6 x 12 mt and the depth varies from 1 to 1,90 mt.

INTERIORS: The entrance to the main house is situated on the verandah side and leads directly into the large, fully equipped kitchen. On the right of the kitchen a few steps lead to a large living room furnished with divans and a stove and then on to the library with the games and computer area and a double bedroom and bathroom with shower. On the left side of the kitchen is a service bathroom and a wooden staircase leading to a relax area with direct access to the garden and to another large sitting room with divans and a stove/burner. On this floor the sleeping area is composed by a bedroom with queen-size bed, with direct access to the outside, 2 double bedrooms with large antechambers, one single room which was once the nun cell and 2 bathrooms with tub and shower. The single floor annex, located near the main house, is an old 17th century barn with a large original window and is composed of a kitchen, living area with divans and large table, double bed and bathroom with shower.

SERVICES INCLUDED: Electricity, water, gas for cooking use, weekly linen, house cleaning at beginning and end of stay, pool and park maintenance.

SERVICES UPON REQUEST (supplied and payable locally to the owner): Extra cleaning (€ 15,00/hour), extra linen (€ 10,00/person) heating (€ 4,80/m³), wood (€ 15,00/100kg), phone and internet fast connection on consumption.
